On December 1st, 2013, Can tho University of Technology (CTUT) warmly welcomed Mr. Kimmo Lähdevirta, Finnish Ambassador and his Lady Pia Kaikonen to visit Can Tho University of Technology on the occasion of his official mission to Can tho City. Dr. Duong Thai Cong, Rector of CTUT, M.Ed. Nguyen Van Au, Vice Rector of CTUT, and leaders of offices in CTUT received the delegation. On behalf of the Rectorate Board, Dr. Duong Thai Cong sent his warm greeting to Mr. Kimmo Lähdevirta and his Lady Pia Kaikonen on their first visit to CTUT.
Both sides exchanged a lot of necessary information during the meeting. Dr Duong Thai Cong made a brief introduction about CTUT and its training, scientific research activities during the last time, its functions and mission in accordance with the social and economic development of Can Tho City in particular and the Mekong Delta in general. From which, Dr Duong Thai Cong expected that Mr Kimmo Lähdevirta would introduce and create opportunities for CTUT to cooperate with universities and institutes of similar training disciplines in Finland.
Mr Kimmo Lähdevirta also informed some information about Finland, introduced programs and projects in science and technology that Finnish Government has supported Vietnam in recent years and noticed orientations and development strategies of Can tho University of Technology to facilitate, support and provide a link between Can tho University of Technology and Finnish universities and institutes in the future.
At the end of the meeting, Dr Duong Thai Cong thanked Mr Kimmo Lähdevirta for his kind consideration and sent the best wishes to the Ambassador and his Lady as well as the Finnish people on the occasion of 40 years of Diplomatic relation between Finland and Vietnam and Finland National Day on the upcoming Dec. 6th.
